Sophomore: I had just moved to Colorado this past year and being the new kid in a new state was intimidating but as soon as I had spent a couple days at LP, I immediately felt integrated and involved in the community. Since so many students are academically skilled, many teachers cannot provide the skill level needed for higher level classes. Many students struggle greatly with mental health, heavily related to school pressures, and cannot rely on any school resources. Although these statistics easily prove the school wide excellence, the pressure this puts onto many students is not well handled.
Along with academic excellence, the sports domination is easily reflected by over 100 state championships in the schools history. Almost every student who Cheyenne produces participates in some sort of extracurricular whether it be sports, clubs, or student government. Students constantly succeeded in and after Cheyenne Mountain with a 97% graduation rate and AP class participation that heavily outweighs that of average classes. Junior: Cheyenne Mountain High School has amazing academics and extracurricular activity participation, but falls short in the care for student mental health and qualifications of teachers.
